Challenge: A startup was interested in developing an app for a new portable printing device - created to enable social printing between friends and family. As the device was being designed, the team wanted to get a start on the interface while also gauging appeal and uncovering opportunities and challenges.
Process: I conducted 10 friendship pairs (20 participants), 60 mins each, in a facility, using low-fidelity mock-ups of 5 uses cases for a new smartphone application. Prototypes were constructed of foam core, and interactions were handled by moving the foam pieces.
Outcome: My analysis of the findings allowed design work to begin on the interface to ensure the team met there product release deadlines. I also uncovered two key features desired by users the team was able to incorporate into the current design.
My Role: I facilitated the project, research design, stakeholder collaboration, analysis and presentation of final report.
